Vodafone : Activate Do Not Disturb (DND) | Prepaid &Postpaid

As per TRAI regulations , every mobile network in India is supposed to provide the do not disturb (DND) service for its customers.

It is just to ensure that there should not be any unwanted phone calls from tele-marketers like bank loan providers, credit card providers, new product trial advertisements etc.

TRAI implemented this rule to regain the privacy of telephone users. It is everyone right to avoid such advertisement calls if one not interested in them.

Here is the procedure to avoid unwanted telemarketing calls for my Vodafone number.

Method 1 : Register DND in Vodafone through online :

This is a simple process if you have internet connection .

 Just to go to below Vodafone’s official website for Do not Disturb. Fill up the form. After 7 days of registration, you will not receive any phone calls from bank and Vodafone recommending some ads.

After seven days from activation, still you receive any commercial advertising calls or SMS that you not opted , then you can complaint at the same website page.

Method 2 : Register DND in Vodafone through IVR (toll free call) :

 
Dial 1909 from your Vodafone number. Select partial activation if you want to block only some of the options like Bank ,Credit cards ; Real estate ads , Health related ads /calls , Education sms/calls . Automobile car/bike related ads etc.

If you wish you can also fully block all SMS and calls. Its your own wish.

Method 3 : Register DND in Vodafone through SMS

If I want to fully block all advertising calls and SMS , then send START 0   to the number 1909 (toll free)

If  I want to partially block, then you have to send SMS like following.

For example, START 7 for receiving only Tourism related calls and SMS.

START 1,7 for receiving only bank, and tourism calls. All others will be considered as blocked.

BSNL Landline service reports 14979 crore loss this year - A Brief Report

During the financial year 2013-14 , BSNL reports that they faced about fifteen thousand crore loss with BSNL landline services.

In total BSNL had 7000 crore loss in this financial year,says telecom minister Mr.Ravi Sankar prasad on this Friday.



BSNL provides various services like landlines services,broadband internet,postpaid and prepaid mobile services,will phone service etc.

The gross loss of BSNL during 2012-13 was around 7900 crores and during 2011-12 it was 8850 crore.

For landlines services in particular the loads during last two financial years was reported as 13450 crore and 12669 crore respectively.

At the beginning of telecom rivalry BSNL was the one who provides cheapest services. But nowadays due to huge rivalry, every tele networks started to provide cheap tariffs and services.

Will BSNL compete with other networks and regain its image or it will go in shade like Doordarsan Program?

Aircel : Manual GPRS , 2G and 3G Internet settings | Create New APN

If you have China or Korean mobile set, then Aircel will not automatically detect and send the Internet settings to you. So you have to manually set the Internet settings in your phone.

This technique shall also be applicable for Aircel 3G dongle, BSNL huwai universal data Card, Android smart phones, HTC and Nokia Windows Smart Phones.

I will tell the procedure as a common . So that you can understand the logic and apply it any phones and internet data cards.




Even you receive automatic settings from Aircel network through SMS, it will contain some information like Port number , Port name, Access Point name etc.

Now, Go to Settings in your phone or data card, And go to Mobile Network Settings. Then Go to Access point names. If you have dual sim , then your two SIM names will be displayed.

Select the desired SIM card for Internet.

Now tap on the left button , and select Create New APN

Enter the following Information.

Name : Aircel Internet

APN: Aircelgprs

APN type : default , supl (Only for smart phones)

Proxy: Leave blank, Don't fill anything

Port: Leave empty

Username: Leave as blank.

Password type: Leave blank..

Server:Leave blank

MMSC:Leave blank

MMS proxy:Leave blank

MMS Port:Leave blank

MCC: 404

MNC:42

Authentication type: Select None

APN protocol: IPv4

APN enabled/disabled : Select so that it means enabled

Bearer:Unspecified

Finally save the APN . Now try to connect internet. If it is connected ,then you are done.

Still you are not able to view internet, then go to Settings -> SIM management -> General Settings-> Roaming ->Data Roaming -> Connect to data services when roaming.

Now you should be able to connect to internet.

If you are having and trying to connect internet in laptop with Bluetooth connection , then you have to create a new internet connection as follows.

Go to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Internet Options -> Connect to network -> Create New Connection.

Now Press Next -> Dial Up -> Bluetooth Modem Link

Now in phone number type *99# and press Connect. You will be able to view internet in your phone.

How to Right click in Android touch screen mobile browser -For New Android Users

In latest android touch screen mobile browser ,there is no direct right click button available.

But there is an equivalent and alternative option to right click.

Instead of single click you have to long press on any word on the browser.
Long press means 2 to 3 seconds .You can change the duration of long press in settings menu.



Once you long press on word, right click options like delete,copy,cut,paste,share,open in new tab,copy link address,copy link text will be visible. You can tap on the desired option to finish the operation.

This right click option is applicable for both android and windows touch screen mobiles.

Apart from this right click you may have to know the following options about touch screen,if you are a new user.

In home page,long press home screen to display recent applications opened by you. If you want to remove one of the recent app,just drag them to right or left of screen .

In some smart phones,instead of long press home button, you have to press button right to home to do the same function.

Trick 1 :
Go to your Phone settings -> Mobile network -> Choose operator manually.
If you select this option , your phone will search for the signal manually and get the nearest tower information and signal strength from that tower.

Trick 2:
This is applicable only for Aircel. You can send an sms message NOSIGNAL <your location> to 121
This number is toll free. Once you send sms , they will look into the issue and register the complaint and they will take necessary action to improve the signal strength on your location.



Trick 3:
Just call to 198 . This toll free number is specifically for making complaints about network issues and this number is same for every network. Your customer care people will attend the call. Complaint about the signal issue and they will take action for your signal complaint.

Trick 4:
Instead of searching for the signal, better shift to the mobile network which has good signal strength in your location and wherever you go. You can know which network is good in your area by following the trick number 1 explained above.

Dont's
Do not install any apps from Google play or other android store to boost your 3G and 2G signal strength. I am sure all of them are fake software and they will not work to improve your signal strength.
