NX Drafting: Add Japanese Font , text in UG NX Drafting

To add text word in Japanese in UG NX Drafting :

Before trying to include Japanese text in UG NX Drafting sheet, just ensure that whether the Japanese font Kanji is installed in your computer or laptop.

If not you can manually install the font in to the computer program files.

Method 1:
Once you installed the Japanese font in the computer open UG NX Drafting module.

  1. Select Insert note option or you can also go to Insert - Note  command
  2. Now in the form that appears , expand settings and select style
  3. In lettering tab, choose font type in the drop down list as Ideas kanji
  4. Now Click OK and type the letters in the editor in Japanese language.

Method 2 :

If you want to include Japanese words in between English fonts , then use this method.

  1. In text editor , Expand Text Input - Formatting and select the font type as Ideas Kanji
  2. Now a format like <F14>Enter Text<F> will appear
  3. Type the Japanese font in between the F syntax.
  4. The letters you type outside the syntax will appear in usual English Font.

NX Unigraphics: To Clear / Delete History of component UG NX Modeling | Unigraphics

In UG NX modeling , Sometimes while working with free form surfacing or some experimental and trial design proposals we may not need history nodes for every features we create.
Even the lengthy history nodes will increase the size of the file unnecessarily and in turn affects the performance of the software.

So, at such times when we don't need to maintain proper history tree in UG NX Unigraphics we can work in history free mode. The illustrated methods is applicable in NX 7.5 , NX8, NX , NX 9.5 and above

There are two methods to remove history of a component in UG NX

Clear History using Remove Feature Parameters Option

  1. Open the Part Navigator section and select all the history nodes using Shift+select method.
  2. Go to Edit - Feature - Remove Parameters
  3. You will see a warning called "This operation removes parameters from all selected objects."
  4. Press OK
The parameters of selected history nodes only will be removed in this method.

Delete History of component using History free mode.

  1. In part navigator at the top of the list , you can see an option called History Mode .
  2. Right click on the History mode and enable History free mode. You can also select this option using command finder option.
  3. You can go back to History mode whenever you need. But the removed parameters cannot be get back.

Change / Orient WCS in NX , Change Sketch Plane manually in UG NX Unigraphics

Command : Orient , Define WCS (Work Coordinate System)  or Orient Sketch Plane

Short Description : This tool is very much helpful to reorient the WCS to new coordinate system or new desired plane surface/face.

What is WCS in NX ?

  • In NX, WCS refers to Work Coordinate system. WCS is useful to select the plane or face while sketching the curves.
  • The user has to orient the WCS in desired plane or face in prior to sketch the section of curves.

How to Reorient face or plane as Sketch plane in UG NX Unigraphics :

By default the WCS would be aligned with Absolute coordinate system. If you want to sketch in different plane or if you want to sketch in different face then while selecting those plane or surface while sketching , automatically the WCS will be oriented to the selected face.

But sometimes, you might not get the desired orientation through this automatic orientation. At this time, we can manually orient the sketch plane using following steps.

  1. Ensure the WCS is in display. If not you can display it using the tool Display WCS. Shortcut for displaying WCS is pressing keyboard key W
  2. Now select the tool Orient WCS . You can find it in Toolbar or find it using the command finder option or Go to View - Orient
  3. Now the CSYS form will appears and prompts method to define new WCS. Choose any desired method from the list viz Dynamic, Inferred, Origin - X Point - Y point , X axis Y axis etc. The most preferred one is Inferred Point.

Note :

If you are not able to pick any face or plane then ensure that selection scope is selected as Entire assembly and also Reset filter. You can find both these option in selection tool bar.

Dual mic Noise Reduction in Android Smartphones

 Smart phone noise reduction

Dual mic Noise Reduction
You might have seen some option called Dual mic Noise Reduction ON and Dual Mic noise reduction off in your Android smartphone settings.

What is Dual Mic Noise Reduction :
Dual Mic Noise Reduction is a technology used by latest Smartphones in order to reduce the ambient ( surrounding) noise and send the clear voice to the other side while speaking a call in noisy environment like traffic jams and other Noisy Market area.

How Dual Mic Noise reduction works :
If you closely look at your smartphone, you can see two microphones located. One near at the front side bottom corner and other one at backside most probably just below the camera lens.
So, if you enable the Dual Mic noise reduction option in call settings, at noisy environments both mics receive noise from surroundings at similar level and subtracted from each other by connecting the microphones out of phase. But the voice of the person will be larger as the primary mic will be placed very near to the mouth. So, the person who hears the voice at opposite will hear more clear voice without any noise even in the noisy environment.

How to enable Noise reduction :
  • Go to settings - Call Settings - Other settings. In Noise reduction category, check the tick mark (Enable) Dual mic noise reduction .
  • You can disable this using this same procedure anytime. But I advice to keep the setting always on to get better voice call experience.

View Dependent Edit in UG NX | Erase / HIde curves in Particular View

VIEW DEPENDENT EDIT IN UG NX

View dependent edit in drafting module is used to edit the display of objects in the selected view without affecting the display of same objects in other view.

In Ideas NX, we can hide the display of curves very easily and we can have more control on the display of curves.

How to Erase/ Delete curves or objects in Particular view in UG :
  1. In UG NX Drafting model, if we want to delete curves in any particular view, then we have to use view dependent edit option.
  2. Select the View Boundary . Right click and choose View Dependent Edit
  3. In Add Edits section click on Erase objects.
  4. Now select the curves, objects that you want to erase from this view and press OK

You can bring back these erased curves by using delete edits option in the same window.

This option would be very efficient when the views are in Associative mode.

But if the view is in Non associative or Extracted edges - None mode, then we can directly pick the curves and delete or hide them.
