NX: Insert and Edit Crosshatch symbol NX 7.5 , NX 8.0, NX 9.0

Crosshatching command is used to create patterns of lines within specified boundary in NX in order to differentiate different regions displayed in drawing view for clear illustration.

How to Crosshatch in NX :

1. Ensure that you are in Drafting application. Now, Go to Insert - Annotation and Select Crosshatch
2. If you repeatedly using this function, then you can keep it in the main toolbar for ease of use.
3. Now , a Crosshatch window will appear which shows a set of required parameters to complete the cross hatch.
4. You can either use point in Region or Boundary curves as Selection mode. Boundary curve method is the most preferred one as it has more control over the selection of desired region.
5. After selecting the boundary curves, select pattern for crosshatching , distance , angle, color and width
6. After completing all the necessary parameters , press Apply or OK to complete the cross hatch.

To delete cross hatch in NX 7.5 , NX 8, NX 9 and NX 10 etc, just select the cross hatch using MB1, and press delete key in keyboard.

You can edit the crosshatch in order to change any settings you previously done.

You may receive Alert messages or error messages sometimes like, No closed loop of curves was found. Close Open loops or select inside a loop of edges or curves.

 In such cases you have to re-select the boundary curves to complete the crosshatch.

Cross Hatching : Applications and Representations | Representation of Hatching

Cross hatching:
Cross Hatching is a method of creating specific patterns inside a specific boundary inorder to differentiate the boundaries.
Cross hatching is mainly used in drawing representations and it is done following some standards like Angle of lines, width, Gap between lines etc.



Types of Cross Hatching Pattern and their applications , representations :

1. Iron or General use - Lines in 45' angle with equal gap in between them
2. Steel - double lines in 45' with equal gap between each double line
3. Brass/Copper- Lines in 45' with equal gap but alternatively breaking lines will be present
4. Rubber/Plastic-Four lines and equal gap followed by four lines in 45' angle
5. Refractory- One Breaking line between two lines in 45' with equal gaps
6. Marble/Slate/Glass- Breaking lines with equal gap in 45'
7. Lead-Wired pattern of lines
8. Aluminum/Magnesium - pattern of lines with thin and breaking lines at each side
9. Electrical winding-Similar to lead but exactly in opposite angles
10. Thermal Insulation- Thin lines at 45 ' overlayed by zig-zag lines.

Submit Form 15G/H with PAN to avail TAX benefits | Save TDS waiver on deposits

You might receive notification SMS from your bank accounts related to your deposits requesting Form 15G/H submission.



The SMS notification would be like , "Dear Customer, Kindly submit Form 15G/H with PAN before April 2015 to your home branch for availing TDS waiver on deposits for this FY 2015-16"

This SMS is generally notified by banks like HDFC, KVB, ICICI, SCB , KOTAK to notify their customers to avail tax benefits on their interests on deposits they have on their banks.

How to respond to this Form 15G/H notification to avail tax benefits :

1. Form 15G/H can be obtained online or from your bank branch. You have to self declare that the tax decuction for previous FY was nil so that the bank will not deduce tax on interests on your deposits for the current Financial year.
2. You have to submit the form within the due date mentioned by the bank to save TDS ( Tax Deduction on source)

KVB: Check Balance Enquiry in KVB Bank account through mobile phone missed call number or Online

Some banks will cost call charges for checking balance enquiry in your savings or current account .
But KVB offers a simple, easy and free service to know your balance in your KVB account.

Steps to Know your Balance in KVB account :

1. Give a missed call to the number 9266292666 from your registered mobile number . To register your mobile number to KVB bank , you can do it directly in your branch or otherwise you can also register it through online banking account.
2. After giving a missed call, within 5 seconds you will receive an SMS stating the balance like "Avl Bal as of 10-03-2015 08:33:20 A/c-XXXX6598 : 4,542.18 -KVB "

You can use this facility whenever you can . But dont use this option very frequently as some banks may indirectly cost you in some other ways for such facilities .

Other ways to check balance of KVB account :

• Go to any ATM centre nearby and insert your KVB card, Enter your PIN and choose the option check balance in the screen. Now your balance will be shown in the screen. After seeing the balance, cancel or End the screen and ensure it is logged of before coming out
• If you have online internet banking account in KVB , just go to official KVB internet personal banking website and login with your userid and password to know your account summary including balance, deposits etc.

To Know KVB customer ID through Missed call :

• Give a missed call to  08882101234 , from your registered mobile number with KVB to know your KVB customer ID

Cut relation, Associativity of Drawing View and 3D model in UG NX | Unigraohics

To cut the Relation | Associativity of drowning from 3D CAD models

There are three types of options available to maintain the associativity links of the drawing views with the 3D models.

• Associative (Always associative)
• Non Associative (Non associative but you can link whenever you need to update the drawing view
• Extracted Edges (None) (Association completely removed from the 3D model.

Procedure to break the associativity of drawing view

1. Right Click on a view boundary and select Style
2. Now go to General Tab
3. In extracted edges option Select - Non Associative
4. Press OK

In this case, the drawing view will not update or shows update notification even if the 3D data is affected or updated.
But you can manually update by changing back Extracted edges to Associative and again you can keep it as Non associative .

If you keep the extracted edges as Associative, then the drawing will update immediately ( If you disable Delay update in settings)
Otherwise, it will show Update notification and you can simply right click and give update.

Most preferred way is to keep the views in Non Associative mode.

Create Drawing Template in NX | Editing a drawing Template in NX Drafting

Create Drawing Template in UG NX

If your company has a standard template and already created it, then it should be present in the menu bar under the category like Special tools or in the name of your company itself.
If it is not customized, the we have to create our own template using the following procedure.


Method 1 : Using Symbol Editor

1. Open a new drawing sheet with specific sheet size (A4, A3, A2, A1, A0) as per your need
2. Manually Draw the borders, name plate, part list table using sketch tools . Prefer to draw them in the Main view.
3. Include the images like company logo, projection type etc using insert picture command.
4. Now Go to Insert-Symbol-Define custom symbol option and create a symbol with all these borders and logos and name it as you wish like Drawing Template A2
5. Remember where you have storing this symbol in the Custom symbol library.
6. Hereafter whenever you need the template , just Insert - Symbol - Custom Symbol and select the drawing template symbol you have already created and place it in the drawing sheet.
7. There is one factor which we can call it as drawback as well as advantage.
8. You can smash the symbol at anytime by Right click - Smash Symbol and Edit it as you need
9. You cannot input some parameters like part list without smashing .

Method 2 : Editing the NX template / Modifying the template list file in system files

1. For this method , you need to have modification rights for the folder UGII/templates in C Drive.  Most probably you might not have write access to these folders and files.
2. If you have write access, then you can try his method.
3. Open a part file, create a template as you did in the method 1
4. Export it as a jpeg image in C drive location C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 7.5\UGII\templates
5. Now go to C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 7.5\UGII\templates and look for ugdraftingtemplate.pax or ugsheettemplate.pax file .
6. Open the file with notepad and if you closely read the file, you can see that one or two palette entries are already created by default.
7. Now you have to create a new palette id copying the safe format and replace the image location to your new one.
8. Hereafter whenever you create a new drawing file, you will see your new A2,A3 or whatever template you have created in the default list.

NX Drafting: Tilt Angle text, dimension values in UG NX

To Tilt the text characters which is written using text editor option, we can use italic option to tilt the text in Unigraphics NX Drafting and Annotation.

On the other hand,  if we want to tilt the text or dimension values that is added using dimensions options, then use the following procedure.

• Right click on the text or dimension
• Click Style
• Now an Annotation style dialogue will appear.
• Change Lettering Angle as desired and press OK to tilt the text or dimension valuse.

We can also get the Annotation style dialogue by Clicking Edit - Style on the menu bar.
