Excel : Compress Images, Restore cropped region of picture in Excel. Powerpoint , Reduce file size of image

Sometimes, while inserting pictures in Excel, Word and Powerpoint presentations, we may need to crop images using the crop tool.
But , do you know that the image can be reset and the cropped region of the picture can be seen .



How ?

Right click the image and select Size and properties
Now , you can see Reset button , under Size properties. Once you hit reset button, you will get the original image, before you cropped it.

If you don't want others to see this cropped region, then you can compress the picture as follows.

• Double click the picture and in Format Tools, select compress picture option
• Now, check Delete cropped areas of the picture option
• And press OK

Now, if you try to reset the picture size, the cropped areas will not be visible.

Advantages:

1. The overall file size can be reduced, as unwanted cropped regions are deleted from the images
2. If you cropped any confidential information, then the reciever can easily see it uby resetting the picture. Compressing the images will avoid such unwanted issues

NX measure tool : To measure Distance, Radius, Diameter, Curve length in NX Siemens

In NX measure distance tool is used to calculate the distance between two objects, the length of the curves, radius of an arc, diameter of circular edge or cylindrical face etc

To measure distance in NX tool :

1. You can find the Measure tool in tool bar, command finder, Menu → Analysis → Measure distance
2. After selecting the Measure tool option, select the type of measurement like distance, radius etc
3. Then pick the start point of the measurement and end point of the measurement
4. If you receive and warning, then uncheck the option Always exact and try again
5. If you are not able to pick the curve, arc for radius measurement, then manually draw a three point arc over the existing arc to proceed with the measurement.

NX : To create datum plane form Part , Assembly in NX Siemens

To create a  datum plane from part in NX :

1. Right click the part and select Make work Part
2. Now, Go to Menu→Insert → Datum/Pint → Datum Plane
3. In the new window, select type as Inferred
4. Now, select the face in the part , where datum plane has to be created
5. If you are not able to select the face, ensure the face is a plane surface. If not, enable point on surface option in snap point tool bar
6. Now select any three points on the face to create the datum plane.
7. Press OK to finish the operation.
8. You can double click on the datum plane anytime to re-orient the position of the datum plane.

To create a datum plane in Assembly in NX

1. In Assembly navigator, select the assembly and make it as workpart
2. Now, Go to Menu→Insert → Datum/Pint → Datum Plane 
3. In the new window, select type as Inferred
4. Ensure that , Entire Assembly option is chosen , In top order tool bar
5. Now select the face of the part where datum has to be created
