FEA: Maintaining Element Normals when Reflecting Elements in thin shell meshing

Maintaining Element Normals when Reflecting Elements

It is important to maintain the flow of element normal, throughout the thin shell mesh inorder to get the reliable results, particularly stress values.

When we reflect an element, the software automatically defines the element's connectivity such that the element normal is the same as the parent element. The software reflects the first node on the parent element as the first node on the new element.

If the element normal flow is not proper, after completing the reflect element operation, then you can use modify element normal option , to get the desired direction for element normal.
